Clarinet and Piano Recital
Jonathan Parkin and Sebastian Stanley play music from Schubert to Ireland
|
On 24th April, Clapham Chamber Concerts continues its 2025-26 season with an eclectic programme celebrating the long-standing duo partnership between our Artistic Director, BBC Symphony Orchestra clarinettist, Jonathan Parkin, and the acclaimed British pianist, Sebastian Stanley, also now a familiar face to CCC audiences.
Opening with Feruccio Busoni’s dapper and lyrically elegant Concertino, audiences will then be treated to a performance of Schubert’s beloved Arpeggione Sonata, known for it’s vocal quality and emotional intimacy. John Ireland’s Fantasy-Sonata is at the heart of the second half of this concert, considered one of the finest 20th century works for clarinet and piano duo, blending French impressionism with English pastoralism. The concert will then take a lighter turn, featuring Richard Rodney Bennett’s soothing Ballad in Memory of Shirley Horn, before the fireworks begin with Simon Milton’s entertaining Fantasie on themes from Bizet’s opera, Carmen. Not to be missed! Tickets can be booked in advance from our Eventbrite page using the button below. There will be a single performance, with an interval, starting at 7.00pm at St Paul's Church, Rectory Grove, Clapham. Tickets: £18.00 standard, £12.00 Friends of CCC and their guests, £5.00 children (5 to 18 years). Universal credit and other benefits, pay what you can at the door. |
