Fairy Tales
Music for clarinet, viola and piano by Schumann, Mozart and Brahms
|
Clapham Chamber Concerts kicks off its new season on Friday 25th September with a stunning programme of works by three of the great masters. Pianist Robin Green returns to the series to perform with violist Lorena Cantó Woltèche and artistic director, clarinettist Jonathan Parkin. Using Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio as inspiration (a place where skittles are played), Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen for viola, clarinet and piano was one of Schumann’s last pieces before he went to the asylum. These fairytale pieces are linked to the Märchenbilder for viola and piano, written five years earlier. To compliment this recital, audiences will be treated to a performance of Brahms’s mature Sonata in Eb Major, Op 120, often played by viola, here presented in its original version for clarinet.
Tickets can be booked in advance from our Eventbrite page using the button below. The performance, which includes an interval, will start at 7.00pm at St Paul's Church, Rectory Grove, Clapham. Tickets: £20.00 standard, £5.00 children (5 to 18 years). Universal credit and other benefits, pay what you can at the door. |
