Music for Harp & Flute
by Chopin, Fauré and Debussy
and a world premiere by David Wallace, composer in residence
and a world premiere by David Wallace, composer in residence
On April 21st, CCC are delighted to present an enchanting selection of old and new music for two of the most ancient and beloved Celtic instruments – the flute and harp. The recital will include Chopin’s Variations on a Theme by Rossini, Fauré’s Morceau du Concours and Arabesque No 1 by Debussy. Traditional Irish folk tunes leaven the mix and we are especially pleased to feature another world premiere by David Wallace, CCC’s composer in residence, From My Window I Can Hear the Sea. “I wrote it a few years ago for Jean and her sister Fiona, who is a flautist, during a stormy summer day on the south coast of Ireland. I realised while writing the piece that I could hear the sea from the open window that was next to me. The sea has always held a fascination for me and features as inspiration in many of my works. Funnily enough I have played both instruments myself so it became a very intimate experience composing this work. I hope you enjoy it.” David Wallace. Tickets available at the door: £12.00, £10.00 concessions and Friends of CCC, £5.00 children under 12 |
