Brahms's Clarinet Quintet
and music by Ravel, Debussy and David Wallace presented by Ensemble SW4
Clapham Chamber Concerts presents its season finale concert for 2023-2024. This wonderful programme has been a year in the works, and it promises to be a very special evening indeed, showcasing all three of our artistic directors: founder and violinist, Amanda Lake, will lead Ensemble SW4, clarinettist Jonathan Parkin will feature as the soloist in Debussy’s stunning and atmospheric Première Rhapsodie, and composer-in-residence, David Wallace, will present a new work, composed especially for this gala concert.
The first half of this concert celebrates the involvement of the harp in chamber music, opening with Ravel’s exquisite Introduction and Allegro, considered by most harpists as a miniature harp concerto. David Wallace has composed his ‘Canticles’ for exactly the same instrumentation as Ravel’s famous work, and Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie will also be performed in a special arrangement for the same group. In the second half, audiences will be treated to Brahms’s much-loved Clarinet Quintet, Op. 115, composed during Brahms’s last creative period, and considered one of his best instrumental pieces. You won’t want to miss this one! Tickets can be booked in advance from our Eventbrite page using the button below. There will be a single performance, with an interval, starting at 7.00pm at St Paul's Church, Rectory Grove, Clapham. Tickets: £18.00 (including OAPs), £12.00 concessions (those on benefits and under 25s), £10.00 Friends of CCC, £5.00 children under 12. |
