Music for Wind & Piano Trio
By Beethoven, Elgar, Glinka, Hurlstone and Rossini
Clapham Chamber Concerts continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary season of concerts. CCC clarinettist Jonathan Parkin will be joined by pianist John Paul Ekins and bassoonist Luke Tucker to perform a delightfully varied programme which will include works by Beethoven, Rossini and Elgar, as well as two stunning trio works by slightly lesser known composers Mikhail Glinka and William Hurlstone. If you were lucky enough to hear Jonathan perform William Hurlstone’s Four Characteristic Pieces at our November concert, you will be pleased to hear that this concert continues the discovery of the genius of this hugely overlooked English composer, whose unfortunate early death robbed us of a wealth of first rate English music. This concert will feature his Trio in G minor in its recently discovered complete version. All in all, a great chance to hear some lesser known gems alongside works by some of our most loved composers, and all performed by some of London’s finest musicians. Not to be missed. Tickets available at the door: £12.00, £10.00 concessions and Friends of CCC, £5.00 children under 12. |
