Brahms Clarinet Sonatas
and works by Liszt and Schumann
Clapham Chamber Concerts opens its 2016-17 season on 14th October with a stunning programme featuring the two much loved clarinet sonatas by Johannes Brahms. These paired sonatas were the last chamber works Brahms composed before his death and are considered two of the great master-pieces in the clarinet repertoire. The programme also features Liszt’s second Ballade, a true tone poem for solo piano and one of his most moving creations, and Schumann’s 3 Romances in a version for clarinet and piano. Presented by CCC clarinettist Jonathan Parkin, and joined by duo partner Sebastian Stanley, this concert promises not to disappoint and is a rare opportunity to hear both Brahms clarinet sonatas in one evening. This concert will mark Jonathan’s completion of the performance of all clarinet works by Brahms at CCC, audiences having been treated to the clarinet trio earlier this year, and the quintet some years ago. Tickets available at the door: £12.00, £10.00 concessions and Friends of CCC, £5.00 children under 12 |
