Schubert's String Quintet in C major
Performed by Ensemble SW4
Clapham Chamber Concerts’ autumn season opens on Friday 8 October with two performances of Schubert’s String Quintet in C major, performed by Ensemble SW4 under the leadership of CCC founder and violinist Amanda Lake.
Written just two months before the composer’s death in 1828 and scored for two cellos rather than the two violas usually found in string quintets, this work represents Schubert at his best – a beautiful, heartfelt and intimate masterpiece regarded by some as one of the greatest compositions in all chamber music. Please note: There will be two performances in the same evening at 6.00 & 8.00 pm. The concerts will adhere to the relevant Covid safety guidelines, including a limited number of socially distanced audience members. There will be no interval. Tickets are available only in advance from our Eventbrite page using the button below. Availability is restricted, so early booking is recommended. £15.00, £12.00 concessions, £10.00 Friends of CCC, £5.00 children under 12. |
