Birdsong: An evening chorus of string quartets
Haydn's 'The Lark' and Dvorak's 'American'
Clapham Chamber Concerts opens its 2022-23 season on Friday 30 September with two masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire, performed by artistic director Amanda Lake alongside colleagues from the orchestra of Welsh National Opera, Maia Broido (violin), Lydia Abell (viola) and Alison Gillies (cello).
Listen out for the lively warbling melody in the first movement of Haydn's String Quartet in D Major Op 64 No 5 which inspired its nickname 'The Lark', whilst Dvořák’s String Quartet Op 96 'American' features folk music from both sides of the Atlantic interspersed with the song of the exotic Scarlet Tanager. Join us for an evocative and uplifting evening of first-class music making. Tickets can be booked in advance from our Eventbrite page using the button below. There will be two performances, at 6.00pm and 8.00pm at St Paul's Church, Rectory Grove, Clapham. Tickets: £15.00, £12.00 concessions, £10.00 Friends of CCC, £5.00 children under 12. |
